Savejamaica.com is a for profit organization that focuses to preserve the culture of Jamaica through photography and filmmaking. The funds we raise from the sale of our images are specifically targeted to build new film academies throughout Jamaica. After that, by using commercial power to expose conditions in neglected areas in Jamaica, we look forward to directing support to not-for-profit organizations that are dedicated to helping Jamaicans in need. One of the visions of savejamaica.com was to place a camera in each parish of Jamaica. This was the first initiative to make this vision a reality. Content has always been a vital part of any culture. The vision would be achieved in these seven simple steps:

- select talented individuals
- teach them the art of filmmaking
- provide them with equipment
- have them create a local market for their product
- establish a budget after successful sales
- purchase their own equipment
- learn and have fun while producing meaningful content
archiving the culture & heritage of Jamaica.

“If I can teach young adults in Jamaica to produce & market their own content locally, they will then develop a self-reliant sense of purpose. They will learn how to use Media as a means to create jobs within their community and later for major media outlets. This content will be stored on the Internet and will never be erased. The future children abroad and locally will benefit from this movement. Content will be available for access in the next 300+ years”.

Founder
Rondie Pottinger
Savejamaica.com

rondiepottinger@gmail.com
Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13282158.post-30439420898363859362008-02-03T08:22:00.000-08:002018-11-29T06:37:21.647-08:00Support The MovementSupport Rondie in the Production of the Jamaica Good Life series.

In every work, he strives to bring with him the verdant spirit that lives in his blood and heart.

Rondie Pottinger was born in 1973 in the parish of Manchester, Jamaica. He moved to the United States at the age of fifteen, where he attended High School in Brooklyn, New York. He later went on to attend the University of Rochester where he majored in computer science and electrical engineering. For 15 years, he has been one of the most sought-after and respected graphic artists in New York City for his technical prowess, but it is his uniquely individual vantage point that has added a depth to his work that cannot be found elsewhere.

"the more we see ourselves, is the more we love ourselves"
Building film academies throughout Jamaica is my number one priority.
Rondie Pottinger

Contact
Rondie Pottinger
rondiepottinger@gmail.com

Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13282158.post-78536972516167739322008-02-02T08:24:00.000-08:002013-01-14T10:59:39.448-08:00CommentsRondie,

Hey man, you made a great video. The film work was smooth. The people were real and beautiful - you did a great job of showing what life is like there. It is an important message for the Disneyland States of America to hear. Most Americans think Jamaica is all Club Med. The reality is much more cruel.

The world needs more people to stand up for Jamaica and by enabling the next generation to tell their story, you have done a great act. You are a good man.

Of course you know that you are now responsible for seeing this through to the end. You wanted the job of Saving Jamaica and you are stuck with it now, my brother!

Peace and Courage 4 the Good Fight.

Leo

__________________________________________
Mr Pottinger,
There is nothing else I can say to you, but thanks. Thank you for creating
such an enchanting collection. I came across your collection through the
newsletter I received from Jamlink. Looking at the prints online has fed
an hunger in me that has long existed; an hunger to share the essence of my
country with other people. I try to communicate to them, that the love and
passion I feel about Jamaica, can never be colored by the nonsensical and
frivolous things that overshadows Jamaica in this current day. That
passion is birthed in knowing the people of the countryside, the landscape,
living the culture, experiencing the simplicity and appreciating the
lessons of it. I often do cultural presentations using poetry and skits;
keeping alive the memory of Miss Lou and so on. I enjoy sharing the
stories of my childhood, but seeing certain things of it in such an artful
display, is absolutely riveting!!!

Thank you again for such a collection, I will not stop until I have
purchased most of it. I will spread it to all my friends and encourage
them to buy!!

Thank you, Thank you...Thank you.....I can still see my Grandfather in his
waterboots, I can feel my eyes water from the smoke of the wood fire,
climbing the ackee tree and I love how the memory of it all brings new life
in me!!! Thank you...It is very rear that you hear of someone, and see
evidence, that they share a passion, so primitive, but yet so strong, for
the things you call home.

Please let me know, how I can obtain a catalogue. I will keep watch for
upcoming art shows.

Thanks
Pauline
__________________________________________

Kamal Imani - 2007-07-05 14:20:04
Peace Bredren,

Thanks for bringing us to the next level!

Kamal
__________________________________________

Moreen Williams - 2007-06-18 04:34:17
I absolutely love this site. There are numerous times my mind has thought of our tradition of story-telling and song and poetry competions at various levels. I was deeply involved for a few years as a child.

At those times I then remember one of my grandmas influence.

He has my interest from bringing my mind to the connections which bind the Jamaican people.
__________________________________________
Parris - 2006-04-21 01:46:37
It is good knowing someone with such talent that works with me and to see it through his own vision.
